My Review

Ok, so I’m a big JEM fan, Jesse Ward and the This Man trilogy being one of my all time favourite reads, I loved him, so was very excited to read this latest book by Jodi, this being her first standalone.

I was hooked within the first few pages!!

The book is told from the dual POV of Jake and Camille.

Jake Sharp, bodyguard with a reputation for getting the job done, ex-SAS, 6ft 4in of muscles.  He has his own personal demons from when he was in the Army.  He doesn’t do emotional connections.  He works, fucks and drinks, period.

Camille Logan is the only daughter of business tycoon and property owner Trevor Logan. She models for the likes of Gucci and Hugo Boss and is a renowned party girl.

She is Jake’s latest assignment, to shadow her every move, he thinks she will be a spoilt brat, snobby, empty headed, but Camille turns out to be anything but!

Oh my days, he’s stunning – so tall, solid under that grey suit, but not bulky, and his long legs are spread a little, his stance wide.  He looks powerful.  Strong.  Fucking delicious.

They have an instant attraction at their first meeting, which swiftly moves on to a love-hate relationship as she does not want a bodyguard and he has a job to do.

I love the dual point of view.  Some very funny laugh out loud scenes as Camille winds Jake up with her behaviour and his responses back.

She’s doing this on purpose.  I swear, all this girlie shit is turning my brain pink.  All in all, I’m feeling pretty fucking pussy-ish right now.

There are really 2 storylines in  this book, Jake and his relationship with Camille with the threat to her life, and then the past that Jake has buried and refuses to move on from.  Its really well written from both aspects and keeps you on the edge of your seat to find out what has happened, right up until the end, which drove me a little crazy!!

There are some very intense moments in this book, very passionate.  I loved their relationship and how it develops.  I was worried I wouldn’t like Camille but she is fab, turns out to be a strong character, independent and nothing like you expect.  But I really love Jake, broken by his past, strong, sexy, protective, just aching to be fixed!!

A definite must read, a great and captivating storyline, lots of twists in the plot, engaging characters, a bit of an emotional roller coaster of a ride reading this, at the end I was in floods of tears.

Jake is giving Jesse a serious run for his money in this book!!
