Juliet – My Review

This is a new author for me, but the blurb pulled me in, had me intrigued, but it is one hell of a long read, just to warn you!

This is a difficult review to write, as it needs to be read to be fully appreciated. From the blurb it would seem that you’re going to get a typical story about student falling for older professor, with some BDSM thrown in – it isn’t!!

Iris is the main character and the story revolves around her journey of self exploration and finding her sexuality. But there are many other characters and many POV’s within this as well, lots going on and lots to keep up with as the story hops around these other characters as well. I think the characters were well developed and the story reads very well. I really felt for Iris in all of this, in everything she has been through and her struggles to find herself.

Sal is the main bad boy rogue she finds herself falling for. He is a very complex character but definitely a lovable bad boy that I was hoping would end up with Iris. But at times their relationship had me so frustrated that I had to stop reading for a while and calm down!!

There are a few plot twists in here that you don’t see coming or expect!! The book ends on a bit of a cliffhanger, again which I wasn’t expecting, which left me a little frustrated after all that reading – but I will definitely read the books that follow this. Even though this was such a long read, it kept me engaged with everything that was going on, you just had to keep reading to find out more. The BDSM wasn’t as bad as a lot of books that I have read, more erotic than anything else, with the exception of Iris’s initiation scene, which may have triggers for some people.

Overall a good, intriguing, engaging read, with mystery and at times very emotional. It’s something that I would definitely recommend is worth the time and effort to read.

Publication date: April 20th 2015
Genres: Erotica, Romance

Five years ago, Sal Raniero was a loyal son and responsible friend. Giving everything he had to his family and friends, he was on his way to becoming the man everyone expected. But he harbored a dark secret.

He needed pain…a lot of pain.

With his masochism searing through his veins when the offer is put before him to push his servitude further, he cannot resist. Between praying and playing on his knees, he is confronted with the last thing he expects.

His heart.

Torn between becoming the golden boy of Juliet and just another guy with a fetish streak, he makes a decision that will chart the course for the rest of his life.

Take the journey with him and discover what made the boy into the man.

THE INITIATION is part of Kailee Reese Samuels’ series of novellas. Scenes from Juliet are all new companion books to Juliet. These are not excerpts from Juliet, but further glimpses into the characters, backstory, and behind-the-scenes. While they can standalone, they would be better enjoyed with the preliminary reading of Juliet.

The Initiation – My Review

This book really needs to be read after Juliet to fully appreciate and understand what is happening here.

This book revolves around Sal and his history, and how he gets involved with BDSM and the Juliet school. There are many of the characters in here that are also in Juliet and you learn a lot more of their history too and how it relates to Juliet, and pieces of information fall into place as this becomes apparent and you can see how it relates back to Juliet.

This is Sal’s initiation into Juliet as a submissive, where he has to show them that he is worthy, and has to pick 2 Doms out of the 12 that are there and go do a scene with them.

I really enjoyed this after reading Juliet – you get a bit more history and a bit more understanding of the characters. I love Sal and his bad boy rogue image, but he is such a slut, even though he has his reasons why, I still love him!!

Again this is a recommended read if you have read Juliet, you will get so much more out of this if you have. I look forward to reading more books by Kailee with these characters going forward.
