My Reivew:
This was my first book by Nadine Nightingale, I was thoroughly intrigued by the blurb and what it pertained to, so upon reading and finding out it revolved around the Egyptian Gods, reincarnation, afterlife and the like, I was already hooked!!
I love something that’s a bit different from the norm, and this is definitely that, although I’m not really a big fan of YA, this I did enjoy. It was really well written and captivating from the first few pages. I loved the characters and the mythos surrounding the story, so this overall a really good read for me, and I look forward to reading more in this series – although be warned, there is a major cliffhanger at the end of this book!!
Bad things seem to happen to people around Nisha, in fact she has been nicknamed the Angel of Death by the folks in her town. She has the love and support of her family around her but is bullied constantly. She meets Blaze, an English MMA fighter, who literally rocks her world and wants to get to know her, but with everyone around her dying she doesn’t want to put him in any danger. But she suffers from hallucinations and night terrors and sees things no one would ever believe. As pieces of the puzzle fall into place, her life as she knows it changes in ways she would never have dreamed.
Its a good read, full of puzzles, drama, suspense, Egyptian mythology and is very funny at times. I loved the references to the tv shows, books and movies!! The banter between Blaze and Nisha was outstanding at times!! I loved Nisha’s character and really felt for her when she was being bullied. Thank goodness for family support!! Blaze is just awesome, his attraction to Nisha just stands out even when she can’t see it, and I love his character and his sweetness and protectiveness around Nisha. There are quite a few plot twists I wasn’t expecting so this kept me on my toes.
I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series to see where it goes with the story line. Highly recommended reading.
