My Review:
Seed is book 2 in this Evergreen trio, and must be read in order. Seed picks up immediately where Dirt left off.
So, basically, Jack has hate-f****d Laurel, convinced she is having an affair and demanded a divorce. Laurel is heartbroken and moves back to her mothers to try and get on with her life, but finds herself in so much pain with the loss of Jack so is increasingly turning to drink to drown out her pain.
Jack is devastated at the thoughts of Laurel’s betrayal, but after speaking with his Dad, is determined to try and win back his wife, but only after he has moved on with one final clue as to who killed Junior.
Isaac is always in the wings, drawn to Laurel, but knows she is off limits. But as Jack does nothing to get back in touch with Laurel after she leaves for weeks, and Laurel is so desperately lonely and hurt, the lines of their friendship get blurred and crossed.
A very intense read – raw, gritty and very emotional, full of complications for all three characters, where timing stands for everything in this story. Dylan and Drea are still in there, best friends to Laurel, keeping her together, whilst Jack is goodness knows where and uncontactable. My heart was literally breaking for Laurel in many parts of this book, her grief and loneliness having a very profound effect on her. I can’t wait to see how this will play out in Book 3, Bloom!!!
