My ARC Review:
This is the second part of the Trick of the Light Duet, the first one really caught me unawares as its an historical type read which I don’t really do very often, but this duet has really captured my attention, I really loved this, so different and unique to what I usually read, which made it all the more fascinating for me.
Addison is well renowned for her dark reads, this duet is definitely on the lighter side, but you really get a vivid reading experience from this, almost like you are almost back in the Prohibition era yourself! This second part in the duet did take a darker path from the first with its storyline, the plot kept my attention absolutely riveted, I couldn’t put it down and read it in one sitting!!
Matthew and Charlotte’s relationship really steps up in this one. growing and evolving as their intensity and passion ignite. I love how strong Charlotte is, how she can fend for herself, defend and kill with no problem – only Matthew seems to be able to even remotely put her in her place, but she does submit to him. Matthew has a unique knack of only speaking when really necessary, his grunts and scowls say more than words can ever say, I loved this about his character! He is fiercely protective of Charlotte, only she can bring out the softer side in him, but he is determined to protect her even though she is more than capable of doing it herself. Learning to step back and let her man do his thing is easier said than done for Charlotte!
Lots of twists and turns in the plot that will keep you on your turns, also highly emotional at times, really gritty – I loved it, it was a great conclusion to this duet, one I highly recommend you read!!
USA Today Bestselling author and Amazon Top 25 bestselling author, Addison Cain is best known for her dark romances, smoldering Omegaverse, and twisted alien worlds. Her antiheroes are not always redeemable, her lead females stand fierce, and nothing is ever as it seems.
Deep and sometimes heart wrenching, her books are not for the faint of heart. But they are just right for those who enjoy unapologetic bad boys, aggressive alphas, and a hint of violence in a kiss.
Glad you enjoyed this I adored it also and completely agree about Mathews grunts and glowers 😉
I love Addison’s stuff!
