Someone has thrust their hand through my chest and is squeezing my heart, but it’s not exploding; it’s slowly crumbling.
“Jen, I think it’s time for you and Liam to head on home. There’s nothing more you can do here now,” Kevin says, having reentered the room, pulling me out of my morbid thoughts. “I’ve called Jacquie. She’s on her way to pick you up, and she’ll stay with you until I get back. I still need to meet with the US Embassy staff after I finish up here.”
