Good with his hands, be it crafting a piece of wood, playing his guitar, or pleasing a lover—he excels at them all.
Friendly, flirty, and talented, he’s cool under pressure, and hot everywhere else.
But he keeps his heart closed, even as his interest and emotions are tested.
Olivia Rourke works alongside him at BAM.
Talented, private, and intriguing, she touches something inside him he can’t deny.
He wants to know her. In every possible way.
He wants her to know him.
Her past tells her to stay clear. Van is everything that she wants, and exactly what she cannot have. She has someone else to think of who is more important.
Can either of them risk their hearts?
Van sat on the floor, his legs crossed, a few animals on his lap. A blue boa was draped around his neck, and a tiara sat askew on his head, the plastic gems glittering in the light. He held out his cup, his pinkie extended, no doubt having been schooled in proper tea party etiquette by Sammy, murmuring his thanks for more “tea.”
Sammy filled his cup with water and held out the plate of Oreos. I frowned. I never bought Oreos.
“More cookies, Prince Van? I made them myself.”
He lifted his chin royally and accepted a cookie. “They are delicious. You must give me the recipe. I’ll have my cook at the castle make them.”
Never had I wished for a camera more than I did at that moment. Unable to contain myself, I giggled. They both turned to the door, excited to see me home. Sammy clapped her hands, demanding I join them.
I expected embarrassment from Van, but he simply tossed his boa around his neck and indicated the floor beside him with a wide grin.
“Liv, you’re home. Join us for tea? Sammy has made the most divine cookies.”
How could I resist?
Another fantastic addition to the Vested Interest Series by Melanie!! This is the story of Van and Olivia, both whom work for the BAM boys – Van is the foreman working for Bentley on his construction and renovation projects and Olivia is the designer who comes up with all the ideas – not the characters I would have immediately thought of for their own book, but I’m glad she did because she did a fabulous job with this – its a great storyline that’s entertaining and full of romance and family values!
Van is the ‘gentle giant’ at BAM, he always works hard and does a great job. He never thought he would be in a loving relationship with a woman again after a terrible incident in his past. But he has always had a thing for his co-worker Olivia and is finding it increasingly difficult to stay away from her.
Olivia loves her job designing for the BAM boys and works closely with Van on projects, he is everything she wants in a man but cannot let herself have. She had problems with a bad relationship in the past and puts her daughter Sammy first and foremost in her life, and will not risk getting Sammy or herself hurt by another man.
I loved these two together, totally just right for each other!! Van will make you swoon with how he is with Olivia and her daughter who he call Mouse, he really is the most caring of men and the way he behaves with Mouse will make your ovaries explode!
This is a down to earth storyline, very real dealing with family issues. I can totally see why Olivia was so scared to jump back in the relationship pond with Sammy to think of, but Van was just too awesome to resist!!
Of course other characters from the Vested Interest series make an appearance in here as well which just added to the wonderful storyline. It was a great read, very entertaining, romantic, sweet, with some added angst and drama along the way as well as swoony sexy times!! A great addition to the series, highly recommended reading.
