My Book Review:

This is my first read by Helen, I love a good vampire read and the blurb looked really good – this is quite a different take on vampires from what I’ve read before, so quite a unique kind of story really.

Dante was kidnapped as a young man and held captive for 10 years by a female vampire before he managed to escape. He meets Erin, and ER Nurse as he robs the blood bank for food. They have an instant connection and although she should be frightened by the sight of him she finds herself defending him and wanting to help. Dante can’t resist the connection to Erin, the need to be with her and is fighting a compulsion and a bond that he knows nothing about.

In this world the vampires are very much like humans apart from the fact they drink blood, the sun burns them, they age slower but can die. That’s not really my idea for a vampire, I like them to be immortal, dangerous, domineering and sensual, so this threw me a little.

There’s a lot of push and pull between Dante and Erin in this, them getting together and nearly getting in on, this happens like five or six times, and each time one of them stops it before it gets any further, and I was like come on just get the deed done now please!

I also ended up skipping bits which is not like me! The first book was good and fast paced, the second one seemed to drag its feet a little and the third one picked the pace back up. But still I’m not sure if I’m sold on this story altogether or not, but will finish the series off so I can find out what happens!
