Warrior Fae Trapped

Warrior Fae #1

K.F. Breene

The truce between the vampires and the shifters is long over. So when the two factions stumble upon a lost fae warrior who has no idea what she is, all hell breaks loose.

Charity hasn’t had it easy. Growing up in a bad part of Chicago, left by her mother at 16, she’s a survivor. So when she gets a scholarship to a good college out in California, she thinks all her dreams have come true.

Instead she falls head first into a nightmare.

At a posh party she doesn’t belong, she gets the shock of her life: vampires and shifters are real! Magic is real. And she is anything but a mundane poor kid just trying to make it.

Warrior runs in her blood. If only she knew how to use it.

Suddenly, she is trapped between two magical super powers – a cunning elder vampire who wishes to use her for her blood ties and maybe tie her to the bed, and a sexy alpha shifter who will protect her at all costs.

Her life of surviving never could’ve prepared her for this. And if she doesn’t learn to harness the fae magic running through her blood, she’ll be imprisoned forever.

Action, humor, and romance – we’re going back to the DDVN World!

My ARC Review:

Another utterly enthralling read from K.F. Breene as we get to go back to the DDVN world, I just don’t know how she manages to up the ante everytime and produces these stories that leave you enraptured and immersed in their world, so much so that I did not want to leave and found myself really quite resentful that I had to put my kindle down!! Book 2 can’t come quick enough for me!!!

In this story we are spending time with one of Roger’s wolf shifter packs headed up by a young up and coming sub alpha Devon who has shown some real good promise, he runs a tight knit pack that work together as a family, though he is known to be a bit stubborn and brusque and doesn’t deal well with things emotionally having had a real bad and rough upbringing. He doesn’t do relationships and only spends one night with a girl before becoming emotionally detached from her and moving on.

Charity lives life on the poverty line, having and owning next to nothing, having a full scholarship to school and being street smart and intelligent and keeping her head down and just working for her grades. She lives off campus with her affluent friend Sam and ends up being invited to an elite party due to Sam’s friend dropping out. Sam basically forces her to go and Charity is anything but comfortable going. Little do they know what they are about to walk into…..

Oh my goodness it was so good to be back in the DDVN world!!! Charity is an absolute star, full of street smarts, good at martial arts and has enough sass and banter in her to rival Reagan! I loved watching her magic start to seep out and her innate but untried ability in her magic, using and doing things on her feelings alone. She is completely oblivious to the magical world and everything about it, and her reaction to finding out about shifters and vampires was fabulous. Her run ins with Vlad the elder vampire from other books in the DDVN world was really exciting to watch and she tries out her powers on one of the most powerful vampires in existence!

Devon and his pack of shifter wolves were a real treat to watch too, they worked really well as a team and listened to their Alpha, so when Charity challenged Devon it always caused a bit of a stir. The times when she used her powers to challenge Devon’s alpha authority was stunning, you could literally feel the tension and the force of their challenge as you were reading, gave me goosebumps!

Devon is a great sub Alpha for Roger and is always trying to prove his worth to Roger and ends up in charge of capturing the newbie vampires incorporating Charity in the pack which adds a whole new level of oomph to their dynamics!! Devon is confused by his growing feelings for Charity and his protectiveness about her even though they end up fighting on many levels including physically when she needs to vent her frustration with her powers.

Lots of witty and sarcastic banter throughout the story, some fabulous one liners that had me howling, hot exciting chemistry and some wonderful appearances from other DDVN characters and you have a book that you just can’t put down. A very exciting and dramatic storyline that could have some huge consequences for the characters in DDVN world with the way the plot was going…..

Seriously, if you’re into fantasy / PNR then this DDVN world is not to be missed, brilliantly written, in a totally immersive world, I can’t recommended these highly enough. Book 2 is going to be a painful wait for me!!!
