My Book Review:

I have to say, this is one of the best reads I’ve had in a while, which is saying something considering all the books I read. I just loved the characters so very much, their connection, their banter, the ‘Essexness’ of Gracie and the gorgeous swooniness of Cowboy Koa. I’ve had a permanent smile on my face whilst reading this, I did not want to put it down, even at 02:30 in the morning, I just wanted to carry on reading!

Essex girl Gracie has just split from her long term boyfriend and carries on with her planned six month trip to Colorado on her own, except when she gets to her cabin in the woods it is already occupied. A mix up in the bookings, that should have been cancelled, have Koa tackling Gracie in the snow as he thinks an intruder is on the scene, while the police show up as Gracie has called the cops on an intruder in her holiday cabin!

Gracie ends up staying in a spare room in the cabin, having fallen in the snow whilst retrieving her luggage, hurting her arm in the process and having Koa ice it for her. Their connection, wit and banter start here!

Koa was born and raised in this town but is now the local superstar, having been a footballer then a local musician that made it quite big. Everyone there knows him, but not just from being famous, but from his personal life…..

Gracie can’t believe how hot and fit Koa is, a bit on the grumpy side and likes his alcohol a bit much, but then she is an Essex girl and can put away her own copious amounts of alcohol! Koa can’t believe what has blown into his life, a larger than life British girl that comes out with words he just doesn’t understand, with pink and purple streaks in her hair and half her body covered in tattoos. She has a spitfire of a side to her that turns him on something awful, but he’s not after another relationship having been taken to the cleaners by 2 ex-wives, he never plans on putting himself out there again.

I loved everything about this, the story line, the banter, the wit, the connection….. it has everything, romance, wit, laugh out loud moments, chemistry, passion and there are moments that will tug on those heartstrings. Gracie is a proper Essex girl with no filter, her Essex slang had me laughing, her inner monologue and thoughts were awesome and so very on point at times! Koa was perfectly imperfect, a hot, sexy, single dad trying to sort his life out having been badly burned in his previous 2 relationships, not knowing just how lonely and sad he was until Gracie blew up his life!

A brilliant read for me, going to take some beating to top this, and it’s only January!! Highly recommended reading.

Lesley was born and raised in a small working-class town in Essex, just outside of East London. She’s married with three sons and in 2006 they all moved to the other side of the world, settling on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula, about fifty kilometres outside of Melbourne, Australia.

Lesley is currently ‘a stay at home mum’, but in the past, she has worked at ‘good old Mark & Spencer’ for thirteen years and as a teacher’s assistant. As well as writing, Lesley loves to read and has been known to get through four or five books a week, when she’s not writing that is.

Her other interests are watching her boys play football… the round ball version. She’s happy to admit to being an addict of social media and owes a lot to her Facebook and Twitter family in promoting her book. Lesley is also rather partial to a glass or bottle of wine, a nicely chilled Marlborough Sav Blanc being her favourite.

Being a born and raised Essex girl, she will happily admit being a big fan of spray tans, manis, pedis, and is regularly, waxed, tinted and sculpted, although she doesn’t own a pair of white stilettos.
