What I wanted for my birthday: Books.

What I got for my birthday: my brother’s best friend playing matchmaker.

Let it be known that I, Kinsley Lane, am one hundred percent against being set up with somebody.

And I’m one thousand percent sure that Josh Carter is not the man to find me a boyfriend.

I mean, if I’m so great, why isn’t he the one dating me? (For the record, I don’t know the answer. That’s just what the guy on the internet asked.)

Still, I’ll humor him. If I go on his little dates, he’ll teach my bookish, introverted self how not to be totally, completely, utterly, unforgivably awkward on every single one of them.

And all I have to do is fall in love with one of the lovely gentlemen he’s serving up for me on a silver platter–all of whom fit my very specific guidelines.

Simple, right?

It would be.

If only I could stop falling for Josh.

My ARC Review:

Another fun read from Emma, a friends to lovers / brother’s best friend laugh out loud read that left me with a smile on my face.

Kinsley is an introvert and a dedicated bookworm, owning the town’s small bookstore with her two best friends, she is single and has her standards, looking for someone who understands her bookish ways without her having to hide them away.

Josh is her brother’s best friend and offers to help her get some on line dates and coach her for the said dates. He sets her up with a couple of dates which don’t go very well, which he is kinda pleased about, since he has had a crush on her for the longest time, but due to a pact made with her brother he is unable to date Kinsley for fear of upsetting him.

But their relationship gets closer as he coaches her, and finds he really does want her for himself, and the ‘bro’ lines starts to get blurry, especially when she starts sending him photos of dresses for him to choose what she should wear for a date he has set up for her!

This was a fun and entertaining read with some of Emma’s signature humour coming through with the Grandparents in the old folks home! Not sure I will look at a duck the same way again!

Josh and Kinsley are great characters you can easily relate to, along with the group of friends they have between them, they have some great fun together! A slow burn with some drama and laugh out loud moments, especially the bookworm ones, the chemistry between Josh and Kinsley was hot and palpable. Very entertaining reading.
