Alaska was a brutal hostess.

I spent three weeks lost in the wilderness with celebrity heartthrob, Wes Emerson. Sharing a tent with the Australian actor was one thing. Opening my heart? That was a totally different ballgame—and you guessed it—he won.

Wes is the embodiment of warmth, strength, and shelter. We forged a soul-deep connection in the face of peril and uncertainty.

Too bad our rescue was only the beginning.

When reality comes knocking, it hits hard. I’m an ordinary nurse from upstate New York. He’s a Hollywood A-lister who lives on a different continent. Our lifestyles are worlds apart.

What happens without Mother Nature to level the playing field?

Can our love withstand the noise, chaos, and media attention?

Wes and I conquered the Far North, but we discover wilderness can take on many forms . . .

Alaska changed me.

But it was Lena Hamilton who saved my life and transformed me into a better man.

Equal parts vulnerable and fierce, the snarky spitfire stole my heart within days of us meeting. She loves me for who I am—not what I can offer—and that’s something I’ve never had before. Lena is my true north, the woman I’ve been searching my whole life for. Now I need to prove my commitment across an ocean of differences.

The North Star shines brighter in darkness, but city lights and camera flashes have a way of drowning out the night sky. Sure, we were destined to spark and catch fire, but do we have what it takes to keep burning?

We survived the first leg of our journey, but it looks like Lena and I aren’t out of the woods yet.

My mouth falls open as Wes saunters into the room after his shower. Clean-shaven and damp-haired, he’s wearing his jeans that the hospital washed, and a snug-fitting white scrub top that molds to the muscles of his chest and shoulders. His attire is simple, but he simply cannot be sexier. He grins, and suddenly I lose the ability to think.

He winces as he slides his belt through the loops of his jeans. “Enjoying your grapes?”

“Yes, I’ve had a few, but for some reason, the first one tasted better.”

My eyes dart to his jawline, his lips. Wes was ruggedly sexy with facial hair, but without it, he’s a fucking Adonis. Looking at him right now, all gorgeous and perfect, is like seeing him for the first time. He’s not the goofy guy who kissed me under the stars, he’s Wes Emerson, Hollywood heartthrob. As my insecurities float to the surface, my chest tightens with a mixture of starstruck longing and deep familiarity.

He’s mine. For now. How long will I get to keep him?

“How was your shower?” I ask distractedly.

“Glorious. I just made love to a bar of soap. I’ve never felt better.”

“Lucky soap. When’s my turn?” Never have I wanted to be soap that badly, to caress him, slide against his body.

He runs his fingers through my hair. “Soon, love.” He plucks a grape from the cluster. “Shall we continue?”

This time, I automatically open my mouth for him and allow my lips and tongue to caress his fingertips. His gaze flares with a carnal intensity that steals my breath. No one has ever looked at me the way he does.

“Lena, my self-control’s hanging by a thread, so I’d be careful with that eager mouth.”

“Why?” I gaze up at him and lick the juice from my bottom lip. “Do you have something for it?”

“Damn right, I do,” he growls.

My gaze comes to rest on his belt buckle. After weeks of partially clothed, stealth-mode sex, I can’t wait to strip him naked in privacy. Of course, I’ll need to be careful with him for at least six weeks, if not longer, judging by the winces he keeps trying to stifle. “Did I ever tell you I hate belts?”

“In general?”

“Personally, I don’t like wearing them because they’re too constrictive.” I brush my fingertips over his belt buckle. “In your case, it has something to do with keeping your pants on.”

“You undressing me with your eyes?”

“Good.” He steps closer to my bedside and rolls his hips for impact. The motion makes my nipples harden, lady bits quiver and clench, and him wince.

“You okay, babe?”

“Yeah.” He chuckles. “Just don’t sign me up for any dancing contests until I’m fully healed. Either way, my injuries can fuck off.” He settles on the edge of the bed and brings his lips to my ear. “Because when I finally get you alone, that arse is mine.”

“Or so you think.”

“Oh, trust me, I know.”

“We’ll see about that.” Feeling seductive, I slide my bare legs from beneath the sheet. “Are you hungry, Wes?”

“That’s a loaded question.” His gaze greedily wanders the length of my body as he rests against the pillows. “Do wolves howl at the moon?”

“I’m gonna take that as a yes.”

“My answer for you is always yes.”

“Good.” I pluck two grapes from the cluster. “Now, open up.” His lips part and I feed one to him. I pop the other grape into my mouth and bite down. “Sharing is caring,” I murmur, leaning in to kiss him.

He groans as our lips and tongues meld, the sweet juices intensifying the kiss. After a few moments, I pull back. “We can’t get too carried away until you’re healed, but I promise you’ll be the one howling.”
