I was a willing sacrifice in an arranged marriage.
Until my father made a new deal and gave me to another.
Now I must marry a savage.
A Northerner- the very thing I had been taught to hate.
I vow to never be his. I will never belong to Shay O’Reagan.
I will defy him every step of the way.
He may lay claim to my body, but he will never own my heart.
In order to secure my place in the Irish Mafia, I agree to an arranged marriage.
A marriage with a willing bride, one groomed to be the wife of a mafia king.
What I get is a redheaded beauty hell bent on my destruction.
Turns out, she was meant to be the perfect mafia wife- just not mine.
That treacherous detail doesn’t stop me from wanting her.
From needing to taste her ruby red lips.
The fire that blazes in her defiant eyes lights a desire inside of me that demands I claim her as my own.
While she wastes my time defying me with every breath, the North rises up demanding retribution for a crime that was buried a long time ago.
The clock is ticking as I battle a war around me and within my own walls. Every minute takes us both closer to certain death.
I’m unsure of who my true allies are and where my enemies are hiding. There’s only one thing I’m certain of.
I will never give up.
I will fight to the end, no matter the cost.
I am a King and I will die on my feet.
“Calm down,” I say and press her harder against the wall. I know there is no way she doesn’t feel my raging hard-on. Her cheek presses into the wall, her breath moves locks of red curls, but I can’t see her eyes. I reach up and move the hair aside slowly and carefully, not putting it past her to try to bite me.
“You keep calling me a savage, Emma. So this is what a savage would do.”
She’s looking at me from the corner of her eye. She shifts and rubs up against me. “I wouldn’t keep doing that if I was you.” I move my face closer to hers. “Unless you want to.” I want her to want me to.
“I hate you.”
I try to move past the anger I feel that she was Jack’s. Now I want to make her mine.
“Say something nice to me, and I’ll let you go.” I’m trying to take the high road here. I’m not one to fight over any woman, but this time it’s very personal.
She draws in a shaky breath, and her gaze diverts back to the wall. “Fuck you.” Her two words don’t hold the same level of conviction they had earlier, but it’s enough to make me want to push her down the stairs. I think I show a tremendous amount of restraint and drag her away from the wall until she’s facing me. My arms keep her locked in place, and she’s pressed against me so she can’t kick out.
The flickering heartbeat in her neck makes me pause. My gaze trails across her face to her plump lips—her small pink tongue flicks out, and she licks her lips. My cock twitches.
“Final chance.” I can’t look away from her lips.
