The male being tall and handsome held little surprise. The man, or his body at least, a direct descendent of Lucifer. He could have been a twin to the American Actor she wanted to enslave. The one with the wavy brown hair and amazing blue eyes. Ah yes, Bradley Cooper, that was his name. But unlike Sundown’s Hollywood counterpart, this male didn’t just play a deadly killer. She found the story of a hero and Keeper having a split-personality fascinating. Anyone would. She found that the good side, the primary driver, vanished from existence at the slaughter of her brother, Epsilon intriguing. Cowardly behavior. She herself crowed with pride whenever she made a kill.
Take her mother, for example. When Lucifer culled her from the dozens of bastard offspring in the Concubine chambers to offer a place at his side, she happily stepped out of the hoard. When Lucifer told her to slice her mother’s throat in order to prove her loyalty, Allatou took the blade offered and did so without a blink of hesitation. What was the life of one whore over having the chance to claim the throne? A queen rather than a female child doomed by birth to only two futures—beaten servant in Lucifer’s palace or sold as a slave. Undoubtedly mother would have applauded if she not been busy bleeding out on the dirt at Allatou’s feet.
She’d quickly learned that nothing would be simple with her Sire. He tested her in other ways. Each time she met expectations with the promise of the throne held as a ripe carrot at the end of a stick. One growing shorter with each deed’s success.
The latest nibble involved the man she watched from the side of the building. Within Sundown, somewhere, either by location or path, rested the return of the ordained Prince of Hell. A man Lucifer believed to be a threat. Not only because he could claim Allalou’s royal carrot, but her father also stated Reno would bring about the collapse of their realm. And her future.
She would not allow that to happen.
She’d do whatever it took to make sure the good half of the split personality stayed gone. Give the dark half what it wanted. Whatever Sundown needed to keep control. To keep a life he’d never had before. And give her one she deserved.
She stayed hidden by whispering in a soft whisper to be invisible. Anyone who came close or turned their gaze in her direction, unable to see her. A trick of the eye. A ghost to the mind and nothing more. As nighttime fell over the place, she reached the small shack Sundown lived in. She manifested inside and found him sitting at a table drinking from a bottle of whiskey. Stepping behind him, she leaned down and breathed in the scent of male, clean sweat, liquor and much to her twisted delight—darkness. Delicious, arousing, dark. Sundown housed one of the dark powers. Madness ran through the body’s veins. Animated the man with powerful strings. Allatou wanted to taste both it and the man who could keep such restraint. Would he roar when that restraint ripped as he thrust inside of her? Would he sink in those decadent fangs she glimpsed when he licked the liquor from his lips into her flesh? Or did he switch off his control with ease? Like the gear of a well-oiled and precise machine of muscle and skin.
Licking her bright red lips, she leaned a breath away from Sundown and whispered, “Time for bed. Sleep. And then dream.” She stood back as he obeyed her command unknowingly and went over to his bed. Allatou waited as he let out a deep, body shaking sigh before dropping into a deep sleep. Dropping her cloak and letting it pool at her feet, she snapped her fingers and their clothes vanished. Stepping past the velvet on the floor, she joined him on the bed to straddle his waist. Hard, corded muscles under her palms on his chest. Thick strength in his thighs pressed against hers.
Running her red painted fingernails down his cheek, liking the way his soft scruff tickled her fingers. Leaning over him, her breasts pressed against him, whispered, “Sundown, you’re in a dream. With me. Join me.”
His eyes drifted open, and she smiled. Bringing her lips to his jaw, she pressed her mouth against his ear and whispered, “See what I know you want to see. Be with who I know you want to be with. Claim what you want. Here in a dream with me.”
Confusion crossed his features. Those incredible red hued eyes widened. She laid a finger over his lips when they opened to protest. “It’s okay. This is only a dream. You can have me here.” She smiled and ran a hand between them to find him erect already. Oh, how he wanted what he’d been denied for so long.
“Emma?” He said the name in a hoarse, bewildered whisper.
Ah, Lucifer’s information had been correct. That the dark half of the split hero loved the one woman he couldn’t have. Reno’s wife, the one the good side called Witch… the woman Allatou appeared to Sundown’s mind with a whisper, “Yes, it’s me. Emma.”
Sundown shook his head and attempted to lift her off of him. “No. This isn’t allowed. You’re not mine. You’re his. We can’t do this. You can’t fucking be here.” He succeeded to roll out from under her to stand. He finger combed his ruffled hair and slowly shook his head as he gripped the roots. “This can’t be real.”
She stood, brazenly nude. She knew her pseudo-dream trick captured him by the way his eyes devoured her bare curves. He believed Emma seduced him. The way he groaned with need and attempted to ease his erection by stroking, she knew. He’d wanted the other side’s wife for a very long time. A need unabated and unsatisfied. For years. Told no. Commanded not allowed.
Stepping in front of him, she gently swept his hand away to wrap her hand around his throbbing shaft. “This is a dream Sundown. He can’t stop you here. You can have want you’ve wanted.” She pushed up on her toes and pressed her lips against his to whisper, “Because I’ve always wanted you.”
