Mentored in Fire
After a life of hiding and laying low so as not to end up trapped in the Underworld, that’s exactly where Reagan finds herself.
It could be worse, though. She could’ve had a hostile father as her jailor instead of a man eager to teach her magic. She might’ve been trapped with someone other than the steadfast Druid.
She could’ve gone her whole life without riding a dragon!
When push comes to shove, maybe the Underworld isn’t so bad.
Or maybe Lucifer is doing what he does best – deceiving her to get what he wants.
Reagan must walk a razor thin edge to keep her independence.
She must battle wills with the lord of the Underworld.
My ARC Review:
Oh, the action comes thick and fast in this one!!! Picking up just days after Reagan get captured by the elves, Daddy Dearest ‘Lucifer’ turns up to rescue her and take her back to the Underworld to get to know her and train his Heir.
Cahal is with her in an attempt to keep her on the designated path, ie, let Lucifer train her up and then get the hell out of there.
But Lucifer turns out to be quite nice and Reagan starts to enjoy her time spent in the Underworld, especially when she gets to meet the Dragons!
Penny and Emery go find Darius and they form a team and set off to the Underworld in an attempt to rescue Reagan from Daddy’s clutches. Penny is very much out of her comfort zone in the Underworld, especially with the illusions, she’s easily spooked at the best of times! But their rescue attempt does not go to plan and the party are at breaking point, their fear for Reagan palpable at all times. There are so many different parts to the Underworld, all different in how the look and their occupants and how they behave, this was brilliantly and descriptively written!
Told from different POV’s, I especially liked the odd chapter from Lucifer when you get to see things from his perspective. He is quite amazed at his Heir and at just how powerful she is, and how quickly she learns from him and he just can’t help thinking more of her, as a daughter rather than an Heir.
It’s quite astounding at just how powerful Reagan has gotten in this one, able to match Lucifer and take down the most difficult of his spells. Full of emotions as well as Reagan battles with herself and others are battling for her. There’s still plenty of humour thrown in there to break everything up, I love how Darius pushing Penny’s buttons with her awkwardness. But Emery is there for her through everything.
Brilliant from start to finish, I can’t get enough of this series and the DDVN family, there is only one book left to go and whilst I am very much looking forward to seeing how everything plays out, I am not looking forward to leaving this world behind!!
Coming September 10th…..
The final book in the Demon Days, Vampire Nights Series!
With Lucifer wanting revenge and the elves desperate to hold onto their power, a battle is inevitable.
The question is, which side will Reagan choose? The elves have treated her and her friends badly. Lucifer held her captive.
Will she claim revenge…or will she seek to help balance the worlds? Is that even possible? Regardless, she’s not one to back away from trouble.
As the worlds heat up and fates are realized, Regan’s future is anything but decided.
Argh……. can’t wait for this, but so don’t want this to end!!!!
