“I am quite acquainted with your charms,” Frederique drawled as he shoved her skirts out of the way and eyed the lacings of her panniers. He softened his tone at the look of dismay in her eyes. “We still have some miles to cover and cannot afford the delay.” Nimble fingers made short work of the fastenings and he gathered them in hand. Branches cracked and broke as he tossed the wooden frames aside and rose. “They’re too cumbersome to ride in.”
Frederique paused. The burnt copper of the setting sun dappled along her body. It streamed over her shoulders, dipping between her full, lush breasts. Unable to look away, he reached up to lift away the delicate lace at her throat. It floated silently to the forest floor, catching on the branch of a wild rose bush. The whisper of a soft breeze through the leaves filled the silence as he tugged her closer.
Her full lips parted. Clear blue eyes held his. Lust darkened them to match her gown as he loosened the stomacher until he could feel the full, soft press of her breasts against his chest. Hélène shifted, her hands coming up to rest on his chest as she leaned against him. A shudder raced through him at her sensual reaction. With a muted groan, he bent his head, his lips pressing against hers.
Hot, wet, possessive, the kiss was unlike any he’d ever experienced. He growled when she didn’t open her mouth quickly enough, his hand going up to cup her chin. Subtly, he pushed against her chin, forcing her to open.
Her startled gasp pleased him. His tongue darted inside to stroke hers. He traced over her teeth. Thrusting forward and retreating. Drawing a strangled moan from her as inch by inch, the tight rein of his control vanished beneath the heavy tide of lust that rose like molten fire to race along his body. His blood thickened, heated, and pooled low in his gut. He hardened, his cock pressing against the cotton of his trousers.
The lightweight material brushed against the hot, bare rod of flesh, and he groaned. His fingers trembled as they began unlacing the layers of her costume.
