Add to Goodreads:
Growing up, I knew my older brother’s best friend thought of me as “Logan’s kid sister.” For me, though, our next-door neighbor, Colin, felt like anything but a sibling. Whenever I spied on him through my bedroom window, as he banged away, shirtless, on his drum kit, I felt sensations inside me I’d never felt for my actual brother. But when we moved away and Colin’s band took off like a rocket, I knew my tweener fantasies would never become a reality.
Fast-forward nine years to my brother’s wedding, when I saw Colin again and we shared a secret, drunken kiss that rocked my world. The next morning, Colin blamed the alcohol. Said we should pretend the kiss, and my unfortunate text afterward, never happened.
Now that I’m heading to LA to work for Colin and crash at his place, though, all bets are off. I’m determined to make Colin swoon for me, the same way I’ve always done for him. Because no matter what he insisted, Colin’s body during our kiss, and the shocking thing he whispered into my ear right afterward, made it clear he doesn’t really think of me as his little sister, any more than I do.
My ARC Review:
Another stunning book by Lauren, one of my favourite go-to authors, everything this woman produces is golden……get ready to literally swoon when you’re reading this one!!! A complete standalone, this is Colin and Amy’s story, you don’t need to have read any of Lauren’s other books to read this one, but if you have get ready to meet all the Morgan Mafia and then some in here……
Colin is the drummer in the band 22 Goats, the only single member left, the other two (in previous books) are now settled down, along with the majority of his other friends. He wants to find a girl that knows him, not as Colin the drummer, but for his personality, which is proving quite the task. He gets invited to his friend Logan’s wedding, who he used to live next door to, and so goes back to his hometown where he runs into Logan’s little sister, Amy. He’s always been protective of her, treating her as his own little sister, but hasn’t seen her in years, no contact, nothing.
Amy has had a crush on Colin since forever, trailing round after him and her brother, but it was always Colin who was there helping her out. Now she gets the chance to meet him for the first time in years, she’s grown up, and is hoping that maybe they still have that unique connection……
Gah, I loved this!!! Colin’s reaction to Amy is funny, as he assesses the now grown woman, who of course is still forbidden fruit, but is pushing all his buttons and then some. Amy has her work cut out for her, Colin is a bit clueless and useless when dealing with his emotions, sending mixed signals to her, getting a bit hot and heavy and then backing off, making her double her efforts!!
These two are really wonderful characters, they both have their faults, Colin is far from perfect as Amy proceeds to tell him! Amy is unsure about her career path and is skeptical of a relationship with Colin but really tries. Everyone who has worked with her sings her praises, especially C-Bomb, the drummer in Red Card Riot, who she worked as a PA for in a tour! (I love that you get to find out some more about him in this book!)
There are some hot and heavy scenes is here as well, panty melting hot in places! Colin is determined to help Amy and her career, but fails to assess his own emotions and feelings for her correctly and so she ends up laying down the law and giving him something to think about….. you go girl! Amy is a real caring soul, determined to help people out in any way she can, but she is also determined to get Colin, her sass and fire were wonderful, you can’t help but love her!
It was also a real treat for me to see many old faces from Lauren’s other books in here….. all the Morgan’s extended family are in here and it was great to see them again and catch up with their lives. If you haven’t read any of Lauren’s other books you’re missing out with the Morgan family!
Told from dual POV’s, stunning from start to finish, I couldn’t put it down as I watched their budding relationship unfold…. full of feels and emotions, it will make you laugh, have you on the edge of your seat, have you tearing up, you name it this one has it! Being back with the Morgan’s was a wonderful treat, I love their family dynamics, with Amy and Colin fitting right in there! Not to be missed, recommended for everyone….. Lauren Rowe I love you the most! Roger….. Rabbit!!
