My name is Ryan Sheppard and I don’t care about Christmas. I’m only returning to my over-the-top Christmas-themed hometown to sell the house I inherited from my late uncle so I can get back to the city and the promotion I’m chasing at work.
Unfortunately, there’s a flaw in my plan.
Because according to the town Christmas cop, there’s a moratorium on selling houses during December. She says it’s bad for the aesthetic. She’s also slapping an alarming number of tickets on my front door. For being in violation of holiday décor. And I swear on Rudolph himself, one is for ‘unsportsmanlike Christmassing.’
To top it all off, this Christmas cop looks like a red-headed elf.
A sexy red-headed elf…
My ARC Review:
We’re back in Reindeer Falls and all things Christmassy! I loved the first 3 novellas in this series last year…. all were a fun quick read, very sexy with all the holiday feels. I was really looking forward to this next trio from Jana, Elves with Benefits is the first one of these…..
This story follows Maggie, one of a trio of friends, who’s job is selling real estate and also being the Christmas cop during the holiday season. It’s her job to make sure everyone is in the festive cheer and following the rules and procedures, making sure their decorations are up, lights are on, trees are festive, etc. Three brothers who were originally from Reindeer Falls but have left the town return after one of them inherits a house. Their Christmas spirit is severely lacking, especially the hot sexy one who has caught Maggie’s attention, Ryan, who happens to be very grumpy! Ryan just wants to get the house sold and get back to the city and has no interest in putting up Christmas decorations whilst he’s selling it!
I loved the first half of this novella, some great fun and playful banter with Maggie playing her Christmas cop gig and telling Ryan off for not getting in line with his holiday decorations. But there was very little in the way of romance between these two and just all of a sudden became an item, I just didn’t feel any connection of chemistry between them at all. Unfortunately this one just didn’t do it for me, but I am eagerly awaiting the next two in this series.
