Blackbridge Security #9

Marie James

Release Date: April 7

Making something off-limits will always make that thing more appealing.

Jules Warren, my sister’s best friend, was no different.

She has been the leading lady in every fantasy I’ve had since I was a teenager.

There was no way I was turning her down when she invited me to her room.

Those fantasies? They had nothing on the real thing.

I was given the weekend to make my dreams come true.

The ramifications, however, will last a lifetime.

Keeping a secret is one thing.

Living with the lies is impossible.

My ARC Review:

Book 9 in this Blackbridge Security series, this is Kit and Jules’ story!

Kit is a member of the Blackbridge team and has had a crush on his sister’s best friend forever! They have grown up together, she is a couple of years older than him, but his sister Beth always insisted on the fact that Jules was not allowed to date any of her brothers. But Jules and Kit were always close, they had a unique connection, one he pushed a little too far and she rejected him leaving him heartbroken….. he enrolled in the military and was gone from his family for 8 years due to this!

Kit has never gotten over Jules, he has tried but the torch he carried for her still burns brightly, and the fact that she was always at his family home for Sunday lunch didn’t help him. His whole family knew about the crush he had on her and would all take the mickey out of him.

Jules is 35 yrs old and single and has a plan for her best friend Beth’s wedding weekend, that involves Kit. She has planned it to precision and is relentless in what she wants, irrespective of the outcome of how it will affect all those involved!!!

I must say I thought Jules and Kit made an awesome pair at Beth’s wedding, they hit it off splendidly, he’s not the boy he once was, now all pure alpha male telling her what and how to do what he wants, which she had no idea just how much she loved. Their chemistry was just oozing out of the pages, until I realised just what she had done and then I was just no, how could she!! I did not like that woman one bit after that, and it took some major convincing to get me back to even liking her!!

Kit is an absolute sweetheart, he wears his heart on his sleeve and didn’t beat around the bush with his feelings for Jules, he knew it was always going to be her. Goodness how my heart broke for him in the way Jules used him and his friend Brookes! Thanks goodness for the others at Blackbridge who were there for him when he needed them most.

This is not an easy read at times, very emotional and as bumpy AF, that woman made me mad, I would’ve slapped her silly! Thank goodness for the love of friends and of family who rallied round. Of course they get their HEA, but not before some serious emotional turmoil. Kit didn’t deserve what he got, he’s a lovely guy and I really felt for him.

It was a good read from start to finish, certainly kept me engrossed reading and wondering how this was all going to play out. Brookes’ story is next up I think, which I am really looking forward to!

Meet Marie James:

Let’s see…where to begin…

I’m inching up on the BIG 4-0. The gray hairs are doubling what seems like daily, and the wrinkles and laugh lines are more pronounced than ever.

I have an amazing husband (Married just over 15 years.)

We have two boys we’re doing our best to raise as respectful gentleman.

I have a master’s degree in criminal justice which I used to work as a juvenile probation office until deciding to write full-time in June of 2019. So that means there’s usually always some criminal/law element to my novels.

If I’m not writing; I’m reading.

My favorite genres recently are bully/reverse harem and enemies to lovers. Maybe I’m reliving my traumatic teen years through the girls who actually end up with the boys. (Not that I would change my history since it’s gotten me exactly where I need to be!)

I love coffee. I miss carbs. Music is LIFE. I try not to be too serious.
