A Queen of Ruin
Deliciously Dark Fairytales #4
The final book in the Wall Street Journal bestselling series!
I thought once we released the curse, I’d only have one enemy to contend with.
The queen lives. Not only that, but she knowingly hid herself from me and the rest of this kingdom until the moment the curse was broken. Now she is back, and her desires aren’t clear. Neither are her motives.
Will she try to take the throne for herself?
We can stop her…unless she had a hand in that curse. In which case, will we need to battle her and the demon king before we can finally live in peace? Or has this all been for naught?
Regardless, we have very little time before the demon king returns to wipe us out.
My ARC Review:
OMG this was absolutely f***ing epic!!! Talk about being drawn into the story and being completely oblivious to everything else around you, except for this epic, gripping, enthralling, laugh my ass off, melt my eyeballs, edge of my seat, rip my heart out conclusion to this deliciously dark gritty series. And breathe!!!
Honestly the growth of these characters was just awesome, and I’m not just talking about Nyfain and Finley, but many of the other characters around them – they all grow into their characters in this one, blossom and just bloom….. I was just lost to the whole story as it was all coming together towards its ultimate conclusion.
Told from a few different viewpoints this one, which adds a whole new depth to the story, as you are getting the story from people you hadn’t before, and that to me gave a a wonderful insight into that character that you just wouldn’t have got otherwise.
We obviously get lots of answers in this one, about Finley’s mother for instance and his father and their relationship – will Nyfain’s dragon ever become whole again now that the curse is lifted – can Nyfain get his Kingdom back on track, win his people over and sort out the demon king once and for all – just what sort of animal in Hannon hiding in there?
Hadriel had me in even more stitches in this one if that’s at all possible – he takes on a new and very important role, and even gets his own sidekick, which adds even more craziness and hilarity to Hadriel’s world. We get some chapters from his viewpoint which I loved, shows just how intelligent a grasp on this world he has.
Nyfain and Finley’s relationship is the one that blossom’s the most as they become true mates, their dragons battling to be together as much as their human side, and boy does it get steamy at times, much like being in a honeymoon period, these two are at it like rabbits, anywhere and everywhere lol.
There are lots of twists and turns to keep you on your toes as the battle for the kingdom continues, some I was not expecting at all, one in particular had my heart breaking with tears running down my face….. I was not ready for that one at all!!
This series has been an absolute hoot, if only all fairytale retellings were like this one I would read a hell of a lot more of them. K.F. Breene is one of my top go to authors of all time, everything she writes is golden (some books may well be a darker gold than others) but I would not miss anything she writes for the world. Seriously you don’t know what you’re missing! I can’t recommend you read this series or anything by her enough!
