My ARC Review:

This was a good read….. I enjoyed the connection Scar and Hana have, its intense, he would do anything to protect her, he’s grumpy, she is finding her new self after being lost and is still struggling every day but tries her hardest. This says it can be read as a standalone, but I struggled with not reading the previous book, there is a lot of background I felt was missing from this one not having read the previous book, which did spoil it a little for me I must admit. I would definitely recommend reading Fearless first.

Scar is a bodyguard, having previously met Hana in Fearless, he can’t get her out of his head, but tries his best to keep his distance from her. Hana comes from a very wealthy family, but has had something terrible happen to her which she is struggling to move on from. She was a wild child and has experimented with drink and drugs and ended up being taken and used as payment for her father’s debts to the Russian mafia. She is home now and is trying to get on with her life, but only truly feels safe and is able to sleep properly away from her nightmares when she is around Scar.

Scar was in the military and rescued some civilians from a burning building but got trapped himself and suffered horrific burns. He is now healed and has tattoos over his scars. He had a horrible upbringing again being used as payment for his father’s debts. He ended up working for the Russian mafia but left had enough when selling children got on the table and left. He joined his buddy from the military, Hana’s stepbrother to be, as a bodyguard.

A very intense, moving, emotional and heartfelt read. I loved Hana’s photography and the memory theme to it, very thought provoking and was great how the photo’s were portrayed, I could picture them! Scar was very lovable, his protector instincts for Hana were off the scale, the sacrifice he ends up making for her – this was a very emotional and heartbreaking scene.

I will definitely be looking into reading Fearless to see what I am missing from their backstory – but still I enjoyed reading this one.
