Twelve years ago, I fled, vowing to never again use my power. But everything changes when I break that vow and bring two bodies back to life in the morgue.

It sends me spinning directly into his orbit.

Arrogant. Menacing. Enigmatic. That’s Bronson Cortez, the notoriously violent gang leader who remains elusive to authorities.

He breaks the law at every turn and answers to no one. But when he offers me a glimpse of what lies beneath that iron-clad exterior, I realize there’s more to him than meets the eye.

The man who fiercely guards his heart somehow manages to claim mine.

But he doesn’t know the truth about me.

I wonder if he could be the first to accept me for who I am—what I am.

I wonder if he’ll be the first to see beyond my darkness.

My ARC Review:

This was a great read that pulled me in from the start – a sassy heroine taking and a hot MC gang leader, but with a paranormal twist – a fab read full of suspense, action, mystery and of course the supernatural twist!

Georgia Danvers is the medical examiner – she has had the worst upbringing – used, abused and shamed by her mother who wanted nothing to do with her and only saw her as a cash cow – making her perform ‘tricks’ with her paranormal ability – being able to speak to the dead. Georgia has been traumatized throughout her life, never feeling normal, not fitting in anywhere – but she is comfortable on her own, in the morgue with dead people. She has vowed never to use her ability again after what happened to her when she was younger. But when bodies start piling up in her morgue execution style they start speaking to her, urging her to seek out Bronson, the gang leader of The Scorpions, and to warn him of the danger.

Bronson is the feared, respected and admired leader, known for helping his people however he can, protecting them, making sure that their community thrives. He’s not one to cross, he delivers his retribution with a single bullet to the head as a rule. But when Red (Georgia) turns up in his territory to give him a message he is curious about her, yes she was fearful of him but she didn’t back down, was not timid, and gave as good as she got, so she caught his attention.

But the bodies in the morgue keep piling up, and they all tell Georgia to warn Bronson. So even after being warned not to come back to Scorpion territory she finds herself back there trying to speak to him, but loving the community there and the people, especially the cafe where they first met and the food. Bronson and Georgia have chemistry that is off the chart, something that pulls them together even though they are worlds apart, but trust is a major issue between them.

Mr Gangbanger (Bronson) is a dark and violent character, he warns Georgia he is no knight in shining armour, but she sees how he protects his people. They try to work together to find out who is behind the murders, but Georgia seems to be being targeted by more than the dead people in the morgue.

A great read that had me hooked and turning those pages! I loved both Bronson and Georgia, they have a fabulous connection but have to work hard to overcome the issues between them. Georgia’s backstory is horrendous, and I really felt sorry for her – it’s no wonder she feels like a nobody. Bronson is a dark, strong and gritty character, a protector for his community that shows in the people around him and their loyalty – his retribution is swift to those that cross him. His attraction to Red was awesome and I loved his attempts to fill out her bucket list. I’m looking forward to the next book, which centers around Bronson’s right hand man, Daniel.
