My ARC Review:
This was my first read by this author and the blurb seemed very promising, an omegaverse RH story (although not a paranormal read).
Violet is a member of a large family, unusual for her to have so many sisters, who came into her heat too early, not knowing what to do with herself and the pain, she made a terrible mistake and let a Beta male friend take her. This resulted in an unplanned (and unheard of) pregnancy. Violet’s mother, a cruel and self absorbed woman, sent her away, ashamed of her daughter and the resultant pregnancy, it was kept a secret so as not to tarnish the family name. Now Violet is to be married off to a pack she does not know, keeping her secret from them, but of course secrets have a way of being discovered.
Pack Muldoon are made up of Archer, Miles, Ben and Noah – they are a relatively newly made pack and have secrets of their own. Alpha Miles comes to meet Violet with a view to her being their mate, he is instantly smitten and agrees to take her back home the same day, which was not the plan at all.
They proceed to get to know one another as a pack, but not really like I would have expected – in the story Violet is with them in their home but does not get to know them very well at all, neither side getting involved in the other, apart from in general terms. I didn’t get the emotional connection between this group, just the physical need to breed, but even so for an omegaverse read this was very sparse, not much spice or steam at all really.
There are too many lies and deceit and not enough chemistry and emotional connection to make this a balanced read for me, a shame really as it had a lot of potential.
