My ARC Review:
This was a great read from Julia, a little different on the mafia front than the usual read…. dark, erotic, violent…. I was hooked from the first few pages!
Nora is one of the daughters of the mafia family, her father is the Don’s best friend and right hand man, but the Don is on his death bed and Nora’s father hates his son, Luca, and does not want him to take over as Don. And so Nora’s father makes a deal with the devil…..
Dante is the brutally sadistic capo that Nora’s father makes a deal with, he will offer Dante his support to take over the roll of Don rather than Luca, with the offer of his eldest daughter as his bride. Nora is not the eldest but she is stronger and more resilient than her elder sister, and so steps in and offers herself up as bride instead.
But Luca has learned of their plans and turns up at the house and kidnaps Nora, stealing her away from Dante and forcing her to marry him instead of Dante.
Nora is used to being beaten and abused by her father’s men, so when Luca says he will protect her and look after her, keeping her safe from everyone, she has a hard time believing him, especially when he forces her to consumate the marriage, taking her virginity, yet he tries to be gentle with her, holding back his more baser animalistic desires to try and make it good for her.
Of course Dante does not settle for Nora being taken from him and has a diabolical plan in place to get her back, and get his revenge on Luca.
Dante is terribly sadistic in his desires, enjoying his prey being frightened, enjoying inflicting pain as well as mental abuse, with the intent of breaking Nora to pieces. She is just hoping that Luca comes to her rescue…..
A brilliant read that will keep you the edge of your seat as Luca and Dante go to war over Nora, fighting for her to be theirs. Poor Nora is just a pawn, being used by both in totally different ways, but she is strong and feisty, unwilling to break for either of them, until she has no choice…..
Very much looking forward to the next book in this series! Be warned this is not an easy read with plenty of triggers including consensual non consent and lots of BDSM, erotic and violent scenes. This is also classed as an MFM read but there is really nothing until the end, this is to come in the next books I think, but there are plenty of hot MF scenes in this one.
