This Woman by Jodi Ellen Malpas is now live!
Jesse Ward has stumbled through life drinking and indulging himself within the rooms of his high-class sex club, The Manor, numbing himself to the pain, grief, and guilt of his wrongs. Pleasure and alcohol are his medicine. Hedonism is all he knows.
It’s how he copes.
How he survives.
Until Ava O’Shea strolls into his office and knocks him back with her breathtaking beauty, ambition, and drive. It only takes one look into her eyes, one touch of her skin, and one word murmured, before his heart is kick-started, offering him something he never thought possible. A distraction from his daily torment. A semblance of peace.
Women never reject Jesse Ward. They fall at his feet, melt from his charismatic, devious smile, and obey his every salacious command. All except the one woman who unwittingly becomes his obsession and the only thing that can keep him from the brink of self-destruction.
He needs Ava and will do anything to have her.
Even hide every last skeleton in his large closet.
Because the truth could destroy them both.

My ARC Review:
The Lord of the Manor is back – in This Man I fell in love with Jesse 10 years ago and I couldn’t believe or wait to read This Woman, told from Jesse’s POV – so having read This Man, many times over, I was ready and waiting for Jesse and knew what to expect – I couldn’t have been more wrong!!
This start with flashbacks to Jesse’s past, where we start to learn why the Jesse we know and love is the way he is – controlling, neurotic, obsessive, jealous – his story is heartbreaking and tragic as you find out what makes him so self destructive.
The ride we take with Jesse sent me through a whole host of emotions as we watch, listen and partake in his ongoing internal dialogue and his rants as he battles with himself daily. We learn how and why alcohol becomes is everyday escape to numb himself from the constant pain he suffers from emotionally from the losses he has suffered in his life.
Until he meets Ava, he knows then that she is his saviour, his chance of some sort of life, not that he thinks he deserves a chance. His passion in life turns from alcohol to all things Ava, she becomes his obsession in every way possible, so much so that he struggles to function when he is not with her. But he is also still very self destructive and unable to tell her about his life or what The Manor really is.
Getting to know Jesse all over again from his own point of view made me really quite emotional, as it hits home very hard at just how broken, damaged and downright desperate he is….. it shows all his unusual behaviours up in a new light – the trampling, the countdown, the reminders – Ava has become his everything but he is so very frightened of admitting that even to himself as redemption is not for him.
Of course it’s not all sad and heartbreaking, I did find myself laughing at his antics and with Ava’s comebacks and his reactions to her pushing his buttons, with the addition of his internal dialogue giving us more insight into his emotions.
The secondary characters took on more life as well, with John, Sam and Drew coming into their own, showing just how much they are there for him in his support bubble – unlike Sarah who I think I hated a little bit more in this one!!
So very happy to have returned to Jesse, even 10 years after the first read this one still hits it home, with even more understanding and emotion for Jesse and Ava then ever before – I can’t wait to read the rest of these from Jesse’s POV. Not to be missed for Jodi fans.
