Lords of Darkness is book one in a dark reverse harem romance duet. It does not end on a cliffhanger, but there will be unanswered questions. Please note: this book is dark. You will love the heroes, and then you will hate them before you love them again. If you’re looking for villains who eventually turn good, that doesn’t happen in this book. My ARC Review:
This is the first book in a duet – dark and twisted, hot and violent, alpha and dominant – meet the Lords of Darkness: Alaric, Gideon, Sterling and Theo, all are Lords and are part of a ‘cult’ that are over 1,000 years old, with the title been passed on to a blood relative.
Harlow’s father dies and she goes back to England to help with the funeral arrangements, where she meets the 4 Lords, who is turn want to recruit her in place of her father. She doesn’t really have much of a choice, it’s either her or her 3 year old step brother. She is taken by them, branded, tormented and used amongst other things by them, trialed and tested as they were for their positions, she must be capable of doing the most nastiest of things in order to become a Lady of Darkness.
Poor Harlow has anxiety and psychosis after the murder of her mother by a robber who raped her – she has no memories of this, she’s now on medication to help control her feelings, but the Lords do their upmost to test her without this prior knowledge, nearly killing her in the process. This ends up bringing them together a little but the Lords have no hearts, they are stone cold killers with issues of their own, but are determined to possess Harlow and make her theirs.
Harlow is scared of them and has every right to be, but is drawn to them and has trouble fighting her feelings, but she is feisty and tries her best to push their buttons, but is determined to find a way of leaving them.
It’s a gripping read from the start, dark, dirty, erotic, violent and traumatic with plenty of trigger warnings. It ends on a massive cliffhanger, but the second book in the duet is due out in a month so not too long to wait.
