My ARC Review:
The conclusion to this Cruelest Oblivion duet, must be read in order – I enjoyed this, seeing the character growth of Jai, going to the main Ward and seeking out her mother who she hasn’t seen for years, the new characters Jai meets whilst there and who become part of her group.
Of course her relationship with Chance is never quite straight forward, they haven’t known each other that long and so things get misconstrued, people get hurt (or even worse), but Chance is there, trying his best to protect what’s his while Jai tries not to let jealousy take over!
Not sure I agreed with Jai chasing off on her own, even though it worked out as her raggedy mob of friends came after her and then they took on the Ecocity as a group! A bit brutal as they came up against the Insensates and Emissaries as they tried to free the populace from their rule.
I was not a fan of Jai’s mother, talk about cold and callous!
I also thought that this book was definitely on the shorter side, the two books could probably have been put together as one without it being that big, but otherwise I enjoyed this duet and the dystopian story line – looking forward to reading more from Michelle.
