About the book ~

From NYT best-selling author Melanie Moreland comes an epic love story of loss and redemption.

I realized in that one moment something was terribly wrong.

“I apologize,” she spoke, sounding formal.

“You have me at a disadvantage.”

Her hand rose in greeting. “I’m Alexandra Robbins…and you are?”

I stared at her hand and then her beautiful face.

The woman I had loved passionately—desperately—and still loved to this day.

My former fiancée…who was looking at me with no recognition.

As if I were a stranger to her.

And then it hit me as I took in the emptiness in her eyes.

I was.

I’d spent so much time trying to find my way back to her, only to have her not remember me.

One thing was for sure—I would spend my last breath trying to remind her who I was, who we were, and who we would eventually be again.

All I needed was the chance to show her.

My ARC Review:

A new and updated version of My Image of You published in 2017 with more content added to produce a full length novel – another great read from Melanie, an emotional an angsty ride!

Ally meets Adam at work, she is a nurse and he comes into hospital after an accident with a gash on his head and concussion. These two felt an instant connection for each other, something neither had experienced before, something that could not be ignored and needed to be explored further. But Ally’s life is very complicated, her family life is an absolute nightmare, but she feels she has to do what is best for them, not what is best for her.

Adam is a photographer who travels the world taking photos of disasters – often dangerous he is nearly always on the go and lived for his work, until he met Ally, and now he wants to just be with her. As Adam and Ally get to know one another better he vows to do one last assignment lasting a couple of weeks before coming back to her and settling down – of course things don’t quite go to plan.

There are some great characters in this, Ally’s Aunt Elena is an absolute star and the only soul that loves her apart from Adam. Her mother and step father are characters you will despise, they are cold and manipulative and will get under your skin with their horrible ways.

An emotional rollercoaster this one, with Adam not giving up on Ally no matter what, he knew her inside and out, better than she knew herself at the end and continued to show her that he was all she needed. I felt sorry for Ally and what she went through, the light in her eyes died and didn’t come back until Adam returned, but at the time she didn’t know why she felt this way. Definitely worth the read.

Meet Melanie:

New York Times/USA Today bestselling author Melanie Moreland, lives a happy and content life in a quiet area of Ontario with her beloved husband of thirty-plus years and their rescue cat, Amber. Nothing means more to her than her friends and family, and she cherishes every moment spent with them.

While seriously addicted to coffee, and highly challenged with all things computer-related and technical, she relishes baking, cooking, and trying new recipes for people to sample. She loves to throw dinner parties, and also enjoys traveling, here and abroad, but finds coming home is always the best part of any trip.

Melanie loves stories, especially paired with a good wine, and enjoys skydiving (free falling over a fleck of dust) extreme snowboarding (falling down stairs) and piloting her own helicopter (tripping over her own feet.) She’s learned happily ever afters, even bumpy ones, are all in how you tell the story.
