The fifth and final book in this Men of Hidden Justice series that has thrilled me since book 1 and has kept my attention rapt throughout! In this final book we read about Egan, who we met in previous books in this series, and his love and longing for Sophia.
Egan has a dark, haunted and violent past – he became an explosives expert, the top in his game, the deadly ghost, using his explosives to bring down whole buildings and killing his victims. But he got sick of the killing and the violence and joined Hidden Justice using his talents for good…. until he met Sophia, who became the HJ doctor, to patch up the men up when hurt – she hated the violence of what they were doing, he fell for her there and then, knowing her dislike he turned to working behind the scenes for HJ, working security, opening a gym, doing paintings, biding his time and being patient in the hope of become more that Sophia’s friend.
Sophia is Damien’s cousin (previous book) and is terrified of getting involved in another relationship as she seems to lose everyone she falls in love with. She likes Egan and they become firm friends, but he keeps pushing for more, and she has little hope of resisting the wonderful man that is Egan.
What a powerhouse Egan is…… protective, swoony, sexy, thoughtful, caring, the list is endless!! He loves big and has no problem showing Sophia how he feels about her, patiently waiting for her to fall for him. But the darkness of his past rears its ugly head, threatening the safety and life of Sophia – Egan pulls out all the stops to ensure her safety, his enemy underestimating just how ruthless Egan can be when pushed.
A brilliant end to this series, another fantastic couple that are just wonderful together.
The icing on the cake of this is the epilogues that Melanie has written, the way the whole series gets wrapped up – absolutely loved this – you can’t help but finish with a smile on your face and a tear in your eye.
