My ARC Review:

This was a fantastic read, I was riveted from page one and kept on the edge of my seat all the way through! This book is a stand alone but set in the same world as Beyond My Darkness, you don’t need to have read this but the same characters pop up in this one, plus it’s another fabulous read and gives you a little more into this story line!

Daniel is second in command of The Scorpions MC gang, known for their ruthlessness but they look after their own. He’s on the hunt for his sister’s killer having had a tip off to look for Mac in the Firebird. Several towns and days later and he still can’t find him. Until he stumbles across MacKenzie sitting in a bar in a small redneck town in the middle of nowhere. He is a she. She is a badass and takes no prisoners, but then she’s had to defend herself all her life.

Mac is a car mechanic and owns her own garage. She was involved in an accident when younger and is half covered in burns which in turn are covered in tattoos. She is the object of either ridicule and bullying or pity from the locals or just about anyone she comes across. She’s a tough cookie, handles them with sarcasm and wit and gritted teeth before moving on. Daniel showing up asking questions throws up all sorts of trouble for them both.

Mac has trouble with her memory and suffers from blackouts, losing time and her memories. She is in a special trial to try and help her with this. She also has a special ability to be able to stop time, something she does when backed into a corner. Mac and Daniel have an instant attraction, both from bad family backgrounds they have that in common, but Mac is not used to being friendly and so she keeps pushing Daniel away, and he is fighting with his attraction to her whilst trying to find her connection to his dead sister.

Great story line, well paced and intriguing, I couldn’t wait to find out just what was going on with Mac and her memory loss and her time stopping ability. Lots of danger and suspense along the way as the MC’s grapple with what they find out and their feelings for each other. Hot and steamy with Daniel being a hot dirty talker! A gripping read, not to be missed.
